Nancy Johnson

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Nancy attended Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, now known as Cal Arts, earning her B.A. in painting.  Her paintings have been shown in many diverse galleries in LA as well as in Atlanta.

“My work  harkens back to the mid-century painters that inspire me.  Sometimes my imagery is based upon the season, as in the rusts in autumn, the blues and greens of warm and watery summer, the pale smoky shades of winter.  I take inspiration from the colors, shapes and textures in the physical world.   I try to define it in a way that is personal to me, and I try to inspire the viewer to look at the intrinsic beauty.  Wildlife also inspires me.  I’ve been in love with the color and texture of fish and birds, the lay of certain landscapes and these inspire even those paintings that appear to have no imagery at all.”
