Algar Dole

Algar Dole received his BFA from Maryland Institute, College of Art, and a Masters at Indiana University. His first studio was in Broadway, Virginia for the purpose of fusing and slumping, which led to a patent on lampshades and a patent pending on leaf plates. The studio was in operation for five years and culminated in a 4x8 foot fused glass window in the Frederick Douglass Museum on Capital Hill, DC.

After studying at the New York Experimental Glass Workshop in NYC and Seattle, Algar opened a private glass blowing studio on Capitol Hill where he received private lessons from Alan Goldfarb, a prominent master in Venetian and medieval vessels.

To further improve his skills, he took Zanfirico (cane) classes with Milon Townsend and Ralph Mossman and a glassblowing class with Josh Simpson at the Corning Museum of Glass and Murrine making with Peter Secrest at Hands On Glass in Corning, New York. Algar has created various crystal awards for the National Association for Home Care and a Crystal Double Helix Award given to prominent medical VIPs from the National Institutes of Health.
